After failing to find a finish in each of her first two fights, Iasmin Lucindo has put herself on the map with a second-round submission against Polyana Viana at UFC Vegas 78

The first round saw both fighters standing and swinging in the center of the Octagon but quickly turned into a grappling exchange without much damage being dealt. That changed in round two when Lucindo severely compromised Viana with a staggering punch and ended up finishing the fight on the ground with an arm triangle submission.

After losing her UFC debut against Yazmin Jauregui, the Brazilian fighter bounced back and earned a unanimous decision win over Ultimate Fighter alum Brogan Walker in April. At only 21 years old Lucindo is one of the more exciting young fighters in the women’s strawweight division.

Even as the youngest woman on the UFC’s roster, Lucindo carries a ton of power in her hands and showed that she’s not a one-dimensional fighter with the jiu-jitsu used in the win.

Viana has been in the UFC since 2018, but shortly after making it to the promotion found herself on a 3-fight winning streak. Over the last couple of years, “Dama de Ferro” had put the train back on the tracks winning three of her last four before being submitted on Saturday.

With the win, Lucindo now has back-to-back wins in the Octagon, and by doing it in exciting fashion, may have earned herself one with one of the ranked fighters in the strawweight division.
