WWE Legend Stone Cold Steve Austin Names UFC Fighters He Wants To See Wrestle
All-time WWE great Stone Cold Steve Austin has listed the two UFC fighters he'd like to see in the squared circle.
Crossover between pro wrestling and mixed martial arts has been discussed now more than ever thanks to the formation of TKO Group Holdings. WWE and the UFC are now under one roof, and it's clear that both sides have been playing nice as of late.
At UFC 298, fans familiar with the WWE product were in for a surprise when Bianca Belar and Montez Ford were shown in the crowd. During the February 19th episode of WWE Raw, UFC lightweight Michael Chandler appeared and called out Conor McGregor.
Now, "The Texas Rattlesnake," who recently teased a potential return match, has revealed the two UFC athletes who he thinks have what it takes to thrive in sports entertainment.
AEW News: Former WWE Champion Due In Court For Trial Amid Criminal Charge
During an interview with ESPN's Marc Raimondi, Stone Cold Steve Austin explained why he'd like to see former UFC Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland and Colby Covington enter the world of WWE.
"If I'm going right now, I'm going Sean Strickland," Austin said. "I like Sean Strickland. Boy, he stays economic in the Octagon right now, but what a promo. And so, then I go with Colby Covington. All the trash talk, all the athletic ability. Guy never runs out of gas, he's always in shape, talks a mean streak and can back it up. He's very exciting, he has that X-factor that you always look for. He's double tough."
It's hard to imagine Strickland lasting too long in the world of WWE, and it certainly isn't because of his promo ability. Strickland has no filter, and WWE is a family-friendly company. Even someone like Covington has ruffled enough feathers and has made enough controversial remarks on numerous topics that it would also be hard to envision his presence receiving a warm welcome from WWE's PR team.
Stranger things have happened, however.
