“El Niño Problema” made major headlines when he first competed on Dana White’s Contender Series as a 17-year-old and earned a UFC contract with a dominant decision win. A promotional debut at UFC 282 saw Rosas Jr. submit Jay Perrin in the first round, but in his sophomore outing at UFC 287 he suffered his very first loss at the hands of Christian Rodriguez.
There were a lot of questions about how the young bantamweight might rebound from his first loss heading into Noche UFC, but Rosas Jr. proved that he’s already moved on from that result when he needed less than a minute to get Mitchell to the canvas and stop him with a barrage of strikes.

Most of Rosas Jr.’s previous victories had come via submission, but the 18-year-old proved he’s more than capable of scoring knockouts as well when he rocked Mitchell on the feet before finishing things on the ground.
The impressive win got a huge pop from the crowd in Las Vegas after a number of other fighters with Mexican heritage also picked up victories earlier in the night, including when Daniel Zellhuber submitted Christos Giagos in the previous main card bout.
If Rosas Jr. had gone into Noche UFC and dropped back-to-back fights there likely would have been a lot of people questioning if the 18-year-old was ready for the UFC, but after stopping Mitchell in such brutal fashion most fans will probably be asking when “El Niño Problema” plans to fight again.
