Media Members Pick To Win 2022-23 NBA Coach of the Year:

Mike Brown - Sacramento Kings

This year’s recipient of the Michael H. Goldberg NBCA Coach of the Year Award, Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown is also expected to be named the NBA’s Coach of the Year by a landslide and possibly a unanimous vote.

Although he did not receive all 20 first-place votes in this voting process, Brown did finish with 96 of the 100 total points.

In his first season as the head coach of the Kings, Mike Brown led Sacramento to a 48-34 record and to the 3-seed in the Western Conference, the first time they have been in the postseason since 2006.

This has been a magical NBA season for the Kings and everything they have been able to accomplish is surely just the beginning of something that will be very special for a long-time to come.

After winning multiple championships with the Golden State Warriors, Brown took the Kings head coaching position this past offseason and implemented a culture that has resonated with NBA fans across the world.

Alongside Mike Brown as a finalist for the NBA’s Coach of the Year award are Boston Celtics’ Joe Mazzulla and Oklahoma City Thunder’s Mark Daigneault.

The Celtics finished with the second-best record in the league this season at 57-25 and initially starting as the team;s interim head coach with Ime Udoka being suspended for the year, Mazzulla quickly took this job for himself, as the team removed his “interim” tag near the middle of the year.

Boston has a great chance to get back to the NBA fans this year and a lot of credit must go to Mazzulla for the job he’s done keeping this group together.

Mark Daigneault and the Oklahoma City Thunder did not have high expectations placed on their shoulders entering the year, as they were picked by many to finish with one of the worst records in the league.

As a response, the Thunder went 40-42 and were led by first time All-Star and potential first time All-NBA guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Daigneault has done a fantastic job of aiding in the development of this young team and although they still have a long way to go in order to become a championship threat, the Thunder are on the path to success because of Mark Daigneault and his staff.

Cleveland Cavaliers’ J.B. Bickerstaff, Milwaukee Bucks’ Mike Budenholzer, New York Knicks’ Tom Thibodeau, Denver Nuggets’ Michael Malone and Memphis Grizzlies’ Taylor Jenkins all received multiple votes for Coach of the Year in the polling as well.

Los Angeles Lakers’ Darvin Ham, Utah Jazz’s Will Hardy and Brooklyn Nets’ Jacque Vaughn all received a single third-place vote.
