WATCH: Victor Wembanyama Gets Dunked On In Spurs-Hornets Game
On Friday evening, the San Antonio Spurs faced off against the Charlotte Hornets at NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada.
All eyes were on 2023 first-overall pick Victor Wembanyama.
The 19-year-old is seen as one of the best prospects in the league's history.
However, Wembanyama was on the wrong end of a highlight, as Kai Jones threw down a massive dunk.
Wembanyama finished the night with nine points, eight rebounds, three assists and five blocks while shooting 2-for-13 from the field and 1-for-6 from the three-point range in 27 minutes of playing time.
As for Jones, he had seven points, 10 rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block while shooting 1-for-3 from the field in 27 minutes.
The Spurs ultimately won the game 76-68, and Julian Champagne finished the victory with a game-high 20 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the field and 4-for-10 from the three-point range.
This past year, the Spurs were tied with the Houston Rockets for the second-worst record (22-60) in the NBA.
They have been in rebuilding mode for several seasons and have not made the NBA Playoffs since the 2019 season.
That said, the franchise has won five NBA Championships since 1999 and has legendary head coach Gregg Popovich.
The Spurs have also had Hall of Fame big men in Tim Duncan and David Robinson, whom Popovich has coached.
Therefore, Wembanyama is part of the perfect organization for developing as an NBA player.
On Sunday, they will play their next NBA Summer League game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
