McLaren had a poor start to the 2023 F1 season with rookie driver Oscar Piastri retiring from the race and Lando Norris having to pit six times due to pneumatic issues meaning he finished last in front of the DNFs.

The British team posted to social media and fans did not hold back in the comments, urging the Belgian-British driver to leave the team. McLaren posted:

@LandoNorris: “A very tough race. We had a few issues we had to manage, which really took us out of the race but we tried to stay in it for as long as possible, just in case there was a Safety Car or something… I think the pace was alright otherwise.”

One fan commented:

"Lando deserves better."

Another wrote on the post:

"Lando is going to leave for another team as soon as he can."

Norris is in contract with the team until the end of the 2025 season, however, there has been a huge amount of speculation recently that Norris will look elsewhere if he is not given a competitive car.

Daniel Ricciardo and McLaren parted ways at the end of last year after the Australian driver was unable to show the performance needed. Both Norris and Ricciardo had said the teams 2022 contender was difficult to drive, and it seems this year is not much different.

Another fan, who was not afraid to speak their mind, commented:

"McLaren care more about marketing, memes, and making money, that’s why they’re falling back in f1 whilst dabbling in other motorsport disciplines. Jump ship, Lando, Hamilton did it and never looked back."

Whilst someone else responded in a similar way, although took the opportunity to make a jab at the current Ferrari driver line-up of Charles Leclerc and Norris' former teammate Carlos Sainz. They wrote:

"Lando it’s time for you to leave the team. Ferrari looking for a good driver."
