Alex Albon, the former Red Bull racer and current Williams lead driver, has set the record straight regarding rumours of his potential return to Red Bull.

The British-Thai driver made his F1 debut with Toro Rosso, Red Bull's junior team, before earning a promotion to Red Bull's main roster in 2019. However, his stint there concluded when Sergio Perez was brought into the team in 2021.

Albon, having moved to Williams in 2022 after a year serving as a reserve and test driver for Red Bull and AlphaTauri, has found his niche with his new team. James Vowles, team principal at Williams, holds Albon in high regard, focusing on building the team's future around him.

Albon's commendable seventh-place finish in Canada won him appreciation from his former team principal, Christian Horner. Speaking to the press, Albon said:

“Christian is always messaging me, telling me ‘good job’.

“It is always nice to have that relationship with an old Team Principal. It was a great weekend for us and it was obviously nice for Christian to say that.”

Despite Red Bull's victory streak in the 2023 season, Perez's performances have been lacking compared to teammate and championship front-runner, Max Verstappen. This discrepancy fuelled speculation about Albon's possible return to Red Bull. However, Albon has put an end to such rumours, firmly stating:

“My main focus is with this team. This isn’t a short-term situation, I am here for the long run.

“I am really enjoying working with the team, being where I am. I feel like we are on a journey and I want to continue this journey.

“Let’s see how these next few years unfold. For now, very happy with where I am.”
