Red Bull's technical director Pierre Wache has revealed what makes the dominant RB19 so incredible.

The Austrian team has won every race of the 2023 season so far with Max Verstappen winning six races and Sergio Perez winning two.

When appearing on the Sky Sports F1 podcast, Wache explained that across different tracks the RB19 continues to be able to "produce downforce without massive drag". Wache commented:

"The efficiency, I would say.

"On different tracks we are able to produce downforce without massive drag. That I think is the main strength, yeah.

"Honestly, I think when you make the car, you try to make it as quick as possible

The technical director went on to explain that the dominance of a car also depends on the developments that other teams have made on the grid. Luckily for Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari are continuing to make a comeback from various issues throughout 2022. Aston Martin on the other hand, have made huge improvements from 2022 to 2023, but are still not able to match the performance of the RB19. Wache continued:

"And the success is also depending not only on you but also on the others. Then yeah, the difference is bigger than what we expected.

"The floor is clearly a big part of the development. As you can see, even on the sidepods there is plenty of detail that has an importance in the full performance, and I think it is an overall optimisation of what we did between last year and this year.

Wache concluded by championing the aerodynamic department who are clearly doing an incredible job. He said:

"Clearly the floor detail shows that we are working hard on all this detail to make the car as best we can.

"Our aerodynamic department are doing a fantastic job."
