It was a tough ride for Sergio Perez at the British Grand Prix after yet another poor qualifying session for the Mexican driver. Starting from P15 after being raised a place thanks to Valtteri Bottas' disqualification, Perez had a long journey ahead of him to bring back substantial points for Red Bull. After a P6 finish, the driver has reflected on his sub-par result at the British Grand Prix.

"Everything seemed to go against us today," Perez candidly shared in his post-race press conversation with the press.

"My launch was solid, but an early shove from Ocon on the first lap led to a drop in position instead of an ascent, setting a difficult tone for the rest of the race."

Perez looks to have lost confidence in his abilities after a tricky previous couple of races, and with the performance of the RB19 under his right foot, fans and pundits are starting to question whether he's the right driver to support Max Verstappen. Helmut Marko himself has questioned his place in the team, despite admitting that there is currently no one good enough to replace him.

"Excessive wear on the tyres early on added to the struggle," Perez continued. "And our pitstop happened just three laps before the safety car was deployed. While it wasn't the outcome we hoped for, we put our all in it and did the best we could."

In the whirlwind of a race, Perez faced challenges not just from Alpine's Esteban Ocon, but also Haas' Nico Hulkenberg who was forced to pit for a new front wing after contact with Perez.

Commenting on this, Perez noted:

"We did have a brush, yes. I reckon I was fortunate to avoid a puncture from that. Just a typical race incident."

Starting from a humble P15 after a qualifying result that wasn't necessarily his fault, Perez fought his way to P6. With a race that was not without its challenges, his time at Silverstone will likely leave him with a sense of missed opportunities.
