Jaylen Brown's Custom Shoes Contain Spelling Error
The Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics are locked in a tight first-round series, and there is no room for missteps. This is especially true when it comes to the sneakers worn by NBA players on the court.
Celtics forward Jaylen Brown is a sneaker free agent who often wears Nike models from Kobe Bryant's signature line. However, that has not stopped Brown from publically questioning Nike's ethics on social media.
As of late, Brown has opted to wear his preferred Nike Kobe sneakers, but with custom paint jobs. Throughout the first three games of the NBA Eastern Conference Playoff series against Atlanta, Brown has worn custom kicks that pay tribute to the late-great Celtics legend Bill Russell.
On Friday morning, Jared Weiss of The Athletic tweeted two pictures of new custom sneakers which Brown planned to wear during Game 3 in Atlanta. The shoes implied that James Naismith was not the inventor of basketball.
Unfortunately, the shoes contained a spelling error. The artist spelled Naismith's name like that of Indiana Pacers small forward Aaron Nesmith. Social media users were quick to point out the error and ridicule the mistake.
Brown ditched his plan to wear the new custom shoes and stuck with the same kicks he wore during the first two games of the series. Brown's day got even worse when Boston lost to Atlanta, and the All-Star only scored 15 points and failed to make a three-pointer on four attempts.
Brown will have a chance to bounce back soon as the Hawks host the Celtics in Game 4 on Sunday night. All eyes will be on Brown's shoes. Let's just hope there are no more spelling errors.
