Kevin Durant Wears Nike KD 16 in NBA Playoffs

Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant debuted his unreleased Nike shoes against the Los Angeles Clippers.

With the first full weekend of the NBA Playoffs over, fans have a brief moment to digest all the basketball they ingested in such a short time. Sunday night's action ended with a bang when the Los Angeles Clippers upset the Phoenix Suns 115-110.

While the ending was not what he wanted, Kevin Durant must be pleased with his outing. The Suns forward tallied 27 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds in the losing effort. Additionally, Durant used the platform to debut his 16th signature shoe with Nike.

Durant wore the Nike KD 16 in an almost entirely black colorway with two small white Swoosh logos on the heels. However, this was not the first time the internet saw the shoe.

Fans got a sneak preview of the shoes on Friday night when a picture of three bright colorways of the unreleased shoes began circulating online. Nike has not yet provided any tech specs, official photos, or release information at this time.

Durant is one of four signature athletes on the Nike Basketball roster and easily the second-most popular player behind Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James. In addition to being a perennial All-NBA forward, Durant is a well-documented sneakerhead.

Like so many people, Durant enjoys discussing basketball shoes with fans and members of the media. Unlike some signature athletes, Durant has a strong reputation for his hands-on approach to assisting in the design process of his footwear.

Durant is coming off a great year with his 15th signature shoe, the Nike KD 15, which he debuted last spring. Luckily for fans, they can still purchase the shoes at a discount in select colorways on the Nike website.

Despite losing the first game, Phoenix is still poised to make a deep playoff run. Let's hope it happens so fans get to see more colorways of the Nike KD 16 ahead of its official launch.
