Nike Kobe 4 Protro 'Mambacita' Release Information

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant's newest shoes celebrate his daughter.
In this story:

It has been over three years since the world tragically lost Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven other people. Since then, Bryant's signature sneaker line with Nike has gone through many twists and turns, resulting in very few releases.

While most fans have struggled to secure a pair of Bryant's basketball shoes at retail price, there is reason for optimism. Tomorrow will mark the first release from the Nike Kobe line in one year. Below is everything fans of the Los Angeles Lakers legend need to know about the shoes.

The Nike Kobe 4 Protro 'Mambacita' is releasing at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Monday, May 1. The shoes will cost $180 in adult sizes and can only be purchased on the Nike SNKRS app.

Currently, no one knows how many pairs have been produced for the release. However, it is safe to assume the heartfelt kicks will sell out quickly. Every sneaker release from the Nike Kobe line over the past three years has been tough on the average consumer.

Once the Nike Kobe 4 Protro 'Mambacita' inevitably sells out, online shoppers can try their luck on sneaker resale websites. The shoes are already available on StockX, GOAT, Kicks Cew, and eBay.

Monday is Gianna (Gigi) Bryant's 17th birthday, and Nike is celebrating Gigi for the second consecutive year. The white and black colorway is a nod to her youth basketball team’s uniform.

Meanwhile, the gingham pattern around the heel pays tribute to the flannel shirts that Gigi frequently wore around her waist. The Swoosh logo on the outsole is red, nodding to the red bow Gigi wore in her hair for school pictures.

Other personal touches include Gigi’s name on the heel and shoelace tips. Additionally, the “Mambacita” heart and wings on the insole encourage you to play with passion the way Gigi demonstrated.
