Sabrina Ionescu's Nike Shoes Stolen Inside WNBA Arena
Two super teams stand above the rest of the WNBA. Naturally, a rivalry is brewing between the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces. Unfortunately, someone took it too far by stealing the game-worn shoes of Sabrina Ionescu.
The Liberty guard recently became the newest signature athlete on the Nike Basketball roster. Ionescu's first signature sneaker, the Nike Sabrina 1, has drawn considerable attention ahead of its official launch next month.
Ionescu debuted two colorways of her signature hoop shoe during the WNBA Commissioner's Cup held in Las Vegas - a black and gold colorway that honored Nike co-founder Phil Knight and a green and yellow colorway that paid homage to the Oregon Ducks.
On Thursday afternoon, Ionescu tweeted her about the situation. "Never thought I would get my shoes stolen from an opposing arena… Please just bring me my insoles back" and "RIP to my Sabrina 1s."
You know a shoe is hot when people are brazen enough to steal them from inside a WNBA team's locker room. FanNation Kicks is officially joining the campaign to get Ionescu's custom orthotic insoles returned before the final stretch of the regular season.
Fans can show support for Ionescu by shopping her section on the Nike website. The Nike Sabrina 1 is listed as "coming soon" online and is expected to officially release in September for $130 in adult sizes. Stay locked into FanNation Kicks for all of your daily footwear news.
