The college football season is right around the corner, and many NCAA athletic departments are teasing fans with pictures of new gear they have received from their apparel sponsors. On Sunday night, the North Carolina Tar Heels raised the bar for the rest of the field.

Next weekend, North Carolina kicks off their season against their rival, the South Carolina Gamecocks. In advance of the big game, Jordan Brand hooked up the Tar Heels with a rare pair of player-exclusive cleats in school colors.

Thanks to the Tar Heels' social media team, we got a great look at their new retro Air Jordan 12 Low cleats. Inspired by the 12th installment of Michael Jordan's legendary signature sneaker line, the Air Jordan 12 Low is a testament to the model's timelessness.

The 'UNC' colorway of the cleats features a white leather upper contrasted by Carolina Blue overlays, laces, and insoles. The iconic Jumpman logo appears on the right shoe's tongue, with Tar Heels branding etched into the left shoe's tongue.

Unfortunately for athletes and fans, these clean kicks will never be released to the public. However, online shoppers can prepare for the new football season by stocking up on Tar Heels gear on Nike's website.

This past weekend gave college football fans a slight taste of what is to come, but we speak for everyone when we say Week One cannot get here soon enough. Stay tuned to FanNationKicks.com for all your sneaker news.
