"He's Just Ready": Former Coach Tips Dominik Szoboszlai To Make Instant Impact In EPL
A coach who previously worked closely with Dominik Szoboszlai is confident that Liverpool's new signing will be an instant hit in the Premier League.
Giovanni Costantino worked as Hungary's assistant manager between 2018 and 2021.
He was in that role when Szoboszlai made his international debut as an 18-year-old in March 2019.
Szoboszlai, 22, now has 32 senior caps to his name and was a key player in a Hungary team that finished above Germany and England in the most recent edition of the UEFA Nations League.
After scoring 12 goals and providing 16 assists in 62 Bundesliga games for RB Leipzig over the past two seasons, Szoboszlai moved to Liverpool for a transfer fee of £60 million this summer.
Szoboszlai will wear the no.8 jersey at Anfield, following in the footsteps of club legend Steven Gerrard.
Many players find it difficult to acclimatize to the top level of English soccer but Costantino has no such concerns about Szoboszlai.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Costantino said: "Look, I don't believe people who say 'Dominik will need some time to adjust to the Premier League'. I think he will have an impact from the beginning.
"His mentality to take the number eight is a big responsibility and he's not scared of responsibility so he just needs the support of the fans, who are unbelievable.
"I am sure the fans will like him from the beginning because he's the kind of player that makes the fans happy with his play style."
Costantino last met with Szoboszlai in March before Leipzig were thrashed 7-0 in the Champions League by Manchester City.
Despite the result, Costantino was impressed by how Szoboszlai performed during the game.
He added: "When you see that match, even though it was not good for his team, his level was not far from the Man City players.
"This means he's already a Premier League player. I think he's developed a lot. His father and agent are very important for him.
"I think his skills are absolutely perfect for Liverpool and I won't be surprised if in the next few years he’ll be one of the big stars in the Premier League.
"He's ready, he's just ready."
Szoboszlai will likely make his EPL debut on August 13 when Liverpool begin the new season away at Chelsea.
