Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em is the ultimate look at the best and worst matchups based on a PPR scoring system in fantasy football. This column will not cover the elite players in the NFL like Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey or Justin Jefferson. Instead, I'll look at the players you have questions about who could exceed or fail to meet expectations at each position. Wild Card Start ’Em: Quarterbacks

Start of the Week

Matthew Stafford at Detroit Lions (8 p.m. ET, NBC): Talk about a revenge game! Stafford against the Lions, Jared Goff against the Los Angeles Rams! This should be a doozy! Both quarterbacks are worthy starters, but I like Stafford a bit more in what is a terrific matchup. The Lions defense has allowed the third-most points to quarterbacks, allowing 18-plus points to the position 10 times this season.

Start ’Em

Joe Flacco at Houston Texans (Sat. 4:30 p.m. ET, NBC): Flacco has been a real star in the stat sheets, scoring 22-plus fantasy points in each of his last two games. He’ll be a nice asset this weekend, too, as the Texans have allowed 17-plus fantasy points to enemy quarterbacks eight times including seven who have scored at least 19 points. Overall, their defense has allowed the 10th-most points to quarterbacks.

Wild Card Sit ’Em: Quarterbacks

Sit of the Week

Tua Tagovailoa at Kansas City Chiefs (Sat. 8 p.m. ET, Peacock): Tagovailoa was once again a fantasy dud last week, scoring 7.6 points in a loss to the Buffalo Bills. He has now failed to score more than 15.5 points in five straight games and six of his last seven overall, and facing the Chiefs in bitter cold won’t be easy. Their defense has allowed just 13.3 points per game to enemy quarterbacks at home.

Sit ’Em

C.J. Stroud vs. Cleveland Browns (Sat. 4:30 p.m. ET, NBC): Stroud is coming off a 20-point performance against the Indianapolis Colts, but he had scored 16.1 or fewer points in his three previous games. This weekend’s matchup against the Browns is a tough one, as their defense has allowed the fourth-fewest points to quarterbacks this season. Despite his success, that makes Stroud a risky pick.
