Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em is the ultimate look at the best and worst matchups based on a PPR scoring system in fantasy football. This column will not cover the elite players in the NFL like Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey or Justin Jefferson. Instead, I'll look at the players you have questions about who could exceed or fail to meet expectations at each position. For all of your final fantasy lineup decisions, be sure to check out my weekly player rankings which will be updated daily throughout the 2023 NFL season.

Wild Card Start ’Em: Tight Ends

Dallas Goedert at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Mon. 8 p.m. ET, ESPN): Goedert has scored 14-plus points in each of his last two full games (he saw just 23 snaps last week), and I like him this week against the Buccaneers. Their defense has given up 10-plus points to tight ends eight times, including five who have scored more than 17 points and three who have recorded more than 22 points in 2023.

Start ’Em

David Njoku at Houston Texans (Sat. 4:30 p.m. ET, NBC): Njoku finished as one of the league’s best fantasy tight ends, and he’s been even better in the stat sheets since Joe Flacco took over the offense. He should remain heavily involved (he’s had at least eight targets in four straight games) against the Texans, who allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends during the regular season.

Jake Ferguson vs. Green Bay Packers ($4,700)

Wild Card Sit ’Em: Tight Ends

Sit of the Week

Dalton Schultz vs. Cleveland Browns (Sat. 4:30 p.m. ET, NBC): Schultz finished the regular season with a thud, scoring single digits in four of his last five games. That trend is likely to continue against the Browns, who were the toughest defense in the league against tight ends. In fact, just four players at the position finished with double digits points against them, and only two had more than 14.1 points.

Sit ’Em

Pat Freiermuth at Buffalo Bills (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Freiermuth is coming off his worst season as a pro, and his numbers have been anything but starter-worthy in fantasy leagues. That’s the case this week, as he faces a tough Bills defense in what are likely to be very cold conditions at Orchard Park. Buffalo has also allowed just one tight end to beat them for more than 12 points in a game this season.
