Angels: LA Undergoes Big Pitching Changes In Midst of Astros Series
The Los Angeles Angels find themselves in an 0-2 hole right now against the Houston Astros and need to win two straight games if they hope to at least come out of this weekend series with a tie. The root of their problems has come down to a mix both pitching and lack of offensive production... even Shohei Ohtani has been struggling.
But if there is one thing about LA this season, it is that their front office is not afraid to trust in their development leagues. There have been so many times in just these past two months already that the Halos have relied on prospects with not much experience to take on a starting role within the team.
We initially saw this with Chase Silseth, who has been with the squad since 2021 but got mis Major League call-up this year. He was initially placed in the starting rotation but it became evident that he did not possess the traits they were looking for and was instead moved to the bullpen.
Well, life comes at you fast and with the Angels trying to see if something different, Silseth was optioned back to the minors on Saturday and Jose Soriano will now join the main roster. This news was first shared by The Athletic's Sam Blum.

Soriano has four season of A under his belt to go with one season of AA. Most recently in 2023, he has suited up in 17 games for the Rocket City Trash Pandas and has recorded a 4.24 ERA to go with a 1.457 WHIP.
He has also been on a hot streak as of late.
We hope to see Soriano continue his positive momentum now that he's been called up and also can't wait for Silseth to only improve from here on out.
