Jo Adell's 2023 campaign has been disappointing to say the least.

Adell began the year in Triple-A since the Angels had four outfielders on the active roster, and he absolutely raked. He wasn't the first young outfielder called up, as Mickey Moniak got the first opportunity and made the most of it.

But in June and then early July, due to injuries, Adell got a couple opportunities.

Adell went 3-for-13 with a home run and three RBIs, before injuring his oblique. Rather than getting a huge runway to finally play in the Angels outfield, Adell found himself on the injured list, where he'd spend a majority of the rest of the season.

Finally, this week, Adell was fully healed, and was called up for the last handful of games this season. After struggling to adjust, going 1-for-his-first-9, he put it all together in the team's most recent game on Thursday, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs batted in.

Adell looked the part of the former first-round pick and top prospect, and will hope to carry that into the offseason as he looks to finally stick on the MLB roster next season.

And the good news? He's not feeling any lingering signs of the oblique injury.

“I’m not really worried about it,” Adell said. “It’s a thing of the past.”

Adell also said he has a better routine now, which he hopes will prevent any future injuries from occurring.

Adell's 2023 season was yet another disappointing one for the young outfielder, but hopefully, with his new approach and all, he can finally live up to the hype in 2024.
