Angels News: LA’s Superstar Duo Punch Names in Record Books in Wednesday Loss
At this point in time, baseball fans just have to sit back and enjoy the amazing show that Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout bring every time that they take the field together. Even if Ohtani does opt to leave the franchise for the first time ever this summer, he is making sure to go out on a high note and give Halos fans some amazing memories.
We all were amazed watching him leave the pitching mound in the middle of an inning for the first time in 2023 with a cracked fingernail only to come back and launch his 28th homer of the year. Oh yeah... he also struck out ten batters in that same game.
Well, look no further than this past Wednesday to see him make history once again and his superstar teammate Mike Trout decided to join the party this time as well.
Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout are the first pair of teammates with back-to-back triples in a 1st inning since Bradley Zimmer and José Ramírez in 2017. The last Angels teammates to do it were David Eckstein and Chone Figgins in 2004.
These types of stats and records are something that Halos fans have gotten used to ever since these two teamed up back in 2018. However, even though it's a running joke, Ohtani and Trout have not been doing everything by themselves this season.
In facts, the Angels sit in a very similar spot standings wise that they did back in 2014 which was the last time they made the playoffs. Let's see if they can get it done a second time this year!
