Angels News: Logan O'Hoppe Lays Out Offseason Goals After Truncated First Year
One of the brightest parts of the Los Angeles Angels disappointing 2023 season was the emergence of catcher Logan O’Hoppe. He showed that he belongs in the major leagues this season, and the Angels now have a piece to work with going forward.
After the troubling season for the team, he laid out some goals for himself this offseason. He wants to use the winter to come back even stronger, and hopefully, that translates to more wins.
“It’s how I’m going to spend every second this winter,” O’Hoppe said. “Take a couple of weeks to get away from it. But after that, it’s going to be all focused on having a better result next year. It’s not just going to be making sure I’m getting my lifts and going to train the right way. It’s going to be everything. Making sure everyone in here is doing what they can to do the same thing. I’m gonna do everything I can, because this is not fun.”
O’Hoppe is determined to continue to get better this winter, to make sure that the Angels don’t keep losing games. He is one of the pieces that the Halos can use going forward, so his progression is of the utmost importance to this club.
For the year, he hit .236 with 14 home runs and 29 runs batted in. He was limited to just 51 games this season due to injury, but he wants to come back with a vengeance next spring.
If the young catcher can continue to improve his game, the Angels will be in a good spot. He looks like their catcher of the future, and he seems to enjoy playing in Anaheim.
While the rest of the roster remains a question for next season, the team can build around young players like O’Hoppe. Hopefully, he can stay healthy next season, and we get to see what he can do over an entire season.
