Coming into the Los Angeles Angels' Friday night matchup against the Kansas City Royals, Patrick Sandoval was set to take the mound and if you took a look at his previous two starts, you probably were not too excited. He allowed eight hits with six runs in one and 10 hits with five runs in the next. This game was huge for him to not only perform to keep up LA's hot streak but to also prove that his spot in the rotation should not be tinkered with.

And the 26-year-old LHP did just that as he was able to stay on the mound for seven innings and even though he allowed three hits, no runs at all were give up and he was also able to strike out six batters. Sandoval was able to avoid arbitration with the Halos thanks to agreeing to a one-year, $2.75 million deal and if he can play more consistently on par with how he did on Friday, a big payday will be on the way for him.

LA continues to get a number of contributions from all over the place in their recent stretch that has seen them win ten out of their last 12. Sandoval was just the most recent example.

The Little Details Matter

Sandoval was all smiles following his huge performance at Kansas and he spoke on how he was able to enhance his game for the better during his time off.

“I think the past two games, I just had a bit of bad luck with balls put in play, finding holes and spaces to drop, but today, the defense helped me out a ton,” Sandoval said. “[The double plays] were huge. Those guys are awesome back there. That play [Luis] Rengifo made going to his left and making that throw to [second] to get Bobby Witt [Jr.] doubled up was huge, especially with no outs.”

Let's keep this energy up in the next game against the Royals!
