Angels News: Phil Nevin Circles Shohei Ohtani’s Return to Rotation on the Calendar

He's baaaaaaack.

After missing his most recent start due to fatigue built up over the season, baseball's greatest "Sho"man will be back on the mound for the Angels. 

Halos manager Phil Nevin finally has a target date on when the best player in the league will be back to just show one of the many parts of his amazing game.

It's likely to be Wednesday, August 23 at home against the Cincinnati Reds.

Nevin said Ohtani's next start "looks like Wednesday."

That's Aug. 23 vs the Reds at home.

Ohtani told Nevin that his next start would have to be delayed after his massive workload for the Halos this year has caught up to him. 

It's been another MVP showing for the 2021 AL winner of the award as the unicorn has been phenomenal once again for the red and white. 

Among the league leaders in home runs while also being a top pitcher in his league, there is truly no equal to Ohtani's skillset on a nightly basis. 

Missing the best pitcher from their rotation, the Halos' rotation has struggled to pick up the pieces. 

Despite being acquired at the deadline, Lucas Giolito hasn't seen an improvement in production since his trade from the White Sox to Anaheim. 

Patrick Sandoval has similarly struggled in his last few starts and putting the bullpen at such a disadvantage has made it hard to win games consistently this year. 

Reid Detmers finally got back on track with his most recent start against the Rangers where he threw 7.1 no-hit innings, but at large the team's been underwhelming after an unprecedented choice to buy at the deadline. 

Ohtani, try as he might, hasn't been able to carry an offense missing multiple starters to injury. 

Even in their final game against Texas, Ohtani's solo home run represented half of the runs the Angels would score on the night. 

While happy to have him back on the hill to show his stuff, the Angels' main concern to close the year is to get the best player on earth some help.
