Angels News: Shohei Ohtani Finally Back in Halos Lineup on Monday
Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani is finally back in the Angels lineup after a week-long absence.
Ohtani hasn't played since injuring his oblique last Monday, and it was unclear whether he would return this season considering the Angels are all but eliminated from the postseason.
However, a week after hurting his oblique, Ohtani is back in the Angels lineup, batting second.
Here's the full Halos lineup, courtesy of Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.
The Angels don't have anything to play for the rest of this season, and Ohtani pretty much has the AL MVP award locked up. He isn't able to pitch anymore this season due to his torn UCL, however, he's not someone who likes sitting on the sidelines, so he's going to keep hitting as long as his body lets him.
Ohtani is at 44 home runs on the year, four behind MLB leader Matt Olson for the lead. So if he wants to find something to play for, it could be the MLB home run lead, which should help him earn a little more money next year, although he's already going to get a record contract.
These last couple weeks could be the last time Angels fans get to see Ohtani in their uniform, so they should take full advantage of getting to watch his greatness for as long as his body allows him to keep playing this season.
First pitch for the Angels at Mariners game on Monday is 6:40 p.m. PT.
