Angels News: Shohei Ohtani Remains Out of Lineup Due to Injury
The injury woes continue for the Angels as the team's star player is missing his 10th consecutive game.
Shohei Ohtani remains out of the Halos lineup as the team is set to take on the Mariners in Seattle for the series finale on Wednesday.
Ohtani has been dealing with an oblique injury that is affecting the way he swings the bat. He was supposed to be back in the lineup on Monday but was a late scratch before the game.
The two-way superstar made headlines a couple weeks ago when he tore his UCL and is shut down from pitching for the foreseeable future.
Now with an injury in his oblique, people are wondering why the Angels aren't shutting him down for the season.
Before the injury bug hit the Japanese superstar, he was on pace to be the American League MVP. Ohtani is still the betting favorite to win the award, but some records he was on pace for are no longer attainable.
Following the All-Star break, Ohtani was on pace to potentially break Aaron Judge's AL home run record of 62. Since getting injured, Ohtani has been stuck at 44 home runs.
On the season, Ohtani has been one of the best hitters in the league for both power and average. He was hitting .304 with a 1.066 OPS.
Now with less than 20 games remaining in the season and his impending free agency this offseason, people could be wondering if this is the last we've seen Ohtani in an Angels jersey.
His last time playing with the team was September 4th in the team's loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
