Angels News: What Did Griffin Canning's Season Debut Mean to Him?
The Los Angeles Angels have a ton of pressure on them this season and some people think it's a foregone conclusion that they fail to meet competitive expectations and Shohei Ohtani gets dealt away in the process. Arte Moreno has been one of the more confusing sports franchise owners in recent history but he has confirmed that he has no plans to trade his star if LA is competing for a playoff spot.
With that being said, our Halos have shown promise. Logan O'Hoppe has been fearless in his huge role as a rookie, the starting pitching staff has been promising, and they're above .500 early into 2023. Speaking of the pitching staff, Griffin Canning finally returned to them after two long years of injury setbacks.
His season debut was nothing short of spectacular. He stayed on the mound for five innings and he put the Angels in prime position to beat the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. Only two runs were allowed during his performance and Canning made sure he stayed in the game to secure the win.
Canning spoke to the media after the win and detailed exactly how he felt playing in his first game in such a long time.
"I'm prepared for this. I've been doing it for the last year and a half to get ready for this moment. I felt ready. And just excited to be back out there."

We cannot wait to see Canning hit the field again and hopefully have a healthy, successful season for us.
