Angels Notes: Phil Nevin Talks Shohei Ohtani, Good News on Mike Trout, Reliever Headed to Injured List

The Angels came into Monday night's series opener against the Yankees desperately needing a win.
It didn't look like that would happen until Shohei Ohtani came through with a game-tying 7th inning homer that gave the Angels an extra jolt. They capitalized on that when Michael Stefanic hit a walk-off single to left field to give Los Angeles the win in extra innings, a gritty win for a team fighting to stay within striking distance of October.
In other news, there's good news on the Mike Trout front, as the superstar center fielder relayed a positive update as he aims to return from a broken hamate bone. Unfortunately though, reliever Chris Devenski is heading to the IL with a hamstring injury in a bad setback for the veteran hurler.
