Angels Reportedly Worried About Anthony Rendon's Attitude
The Anthony Rendon experiment with the Los Angeles Angels hasn't exactly worked out the way anyone would have hoped. When they first brought him in three years, he was seen as the missing piece for this team to contend.
But fast forward to the present day, and Rendon is more of a question mark than anything. He has had issues staying on the field and hasn't produced well when he has been healthy.
Additionally, it seems that the team may be worried about more than his baseball skills. Angels Insider Sam Blum of The Athletic is reporting that the Halos are worried about his attitude going forward.
"Beyond his health, the team has had concerns about his attitude. He often hasn’t communicated information about his injuries to the media. And he believed his shin bruise last year was a fracture, while the team’s doctors all said otherwise."
Per Sam Blum of The Athletic
Earlier this year, Rendon was called out by multiple media members for the way he handled his injury. He has seemed to have a bad attitude since joining the Angels, and it has gotten worse over time.
He has not played in more than 58 games over a full season, and it has hurt the team badly. Rendon takes up a huge chunk of the salary cap for the Angels, and his lack of presence has been a problem.
"The situation has bordered on toxic. But, with Rendon having a healthy offseason and a contract that runs another three years at $38 million per season, both parties have no choice but to run it back."
Per Sam Blum of The Athletic
The Angels are hoping for the best with Rendon this coming season, and maybe new manager Ron Washington can get through to him. But the most important factor is his health, and without that, nothing matters for the Angels' third baseman.
