The Los Angeles Angels are about to enter a very interesting offseason and one that could see some real change to their roster. After another season of not making the playoffs, the team will have to once again try to figure things out.

It has been assumed for a while now that two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani would leave the organization, but now there is a chance that star outfield Mike Trout could be moved. While there hasn’t been any request by Trout, this may be the offseason that he says enough is enough.

If the Angels were to move Trout, it would take a decent haul to land the former MVP. But his contract also makes a trade very unlikely, as the Angels owe him for the next seven years at $35.45 million per year. Most teams aren’t going to want to take that kind of commitment on, but the Angels could send money along with Trout to sweeten the deal.

Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report put together a list of potential trade partners for Trout, and one of the Halos AL West rivals was included. Rymer mentioned the Texas Rangers as an option, and it does make a lot of sense if they are willing to move him in the division.

In the deal, the Angels would send Trout, starting pitcher Patrick Sandoval, pitcher Carlos Estévez and $80 million to help pay the salary of Trout. In return, the Angels would receive shortstop Sebastian Walcott.

“The Rangers already have an offense that leads the American League in scoring, but left field and center field are relative weaknesses. Trout could upgrade either or both spots and provide additional support for a DH spot that's also struggled to produce.”

Per Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report

Now, the Angels would likely want more in return for all of that, but they would be shedding a ton of salary in this proposed deal. I think the Angels could get more out of this trade, and they likely would.

But the Rangers do make sense as a trade partner, especially given their rise this year. However, it could be tough for the Halos to send him to a rival. Owner Arte Moreno likely wouldn’t approve this trade, but it remains an intriguing possibility as we enter into the offseason.
