Could one former member of the Los Angeles Angels end up landing in the American League East?

Former Angels utility player Gio Urshela is a free agent and still hasn't found his next home yet. He posted a solid batting average in 2023 while playing multiple positions for the Angels, but only was able to appear in 62 games.

It's unclear where he will land, but the Angels have at least shown interest in a possible reunion. They aren't the only club interested in Urshela for 2024.

Urshela reportedly has a solid market in free agency, with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees among clubs also showing interest in the utility man, according to MassLive.com's Chris Cotillo.

"It remains relatively unlikely that the Red Sox will make major, impactful additions to their roster before Opening Day," Cotillo wrote. "But they’re still monitoring the free agent market on both sides of the ball.

"The Red Sox are among the teams who have expressed interest in free agent infielder Gio Urshela, a source confirmed Wednesday. They have not yet separated themselves from the pack or been an aggressor in Urshela’s market, which reportedly also includes the Yankees, (New York Mets), Angels, and (Miami Marlins). As of Feb. 7, MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch reported that Miami and Los Angeles had better offers on the table than the New York teams."

If he's fully healthy, Urshela would be a solid reunion candidate for Los Angeles. He could help all over the infield, where the Angels lack experience beyond holdovers Brandon Drury, Anthony Rendon and Luis Rengifo.

Health is a big question for Urshela after he missed so much time last season. The Angels seem to have a lot of competition for his services, so their offer from early February might need to improve.

Los Angeles still could end up signing Urshela, but they might need to act fast.
