The Houston Astros originally announced Sunday right-hander Forrest Whitley left his Triple-A start early with right-shoulder inflammation. The 24-year-old underwent an MRI in the last 48 hours, revealing no damage to his rotator cuff or shoulder, per Chuck Miketinac of Fox 29 San Antonio.

Instead, Miketinac reported Whitley is suffering from upper bicep inflammation after only two Triple-A starts following his return from Tommy John surgery. Whitley worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings Sunday before being pulled.

Over his two starts with the Space Cowboys in 2022, the righty has totaled 4 1/3 innings with six runs allowed on six hits, two walks and one hit batter, to go along with five punch outs. On July 3, Whitley made his first Triple-A start since the 2019 Minor League season.
