Takeaways: The Braves take down the Reds 7-6 to even the series

The Braves bats were hot, leading to a 7-6 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

The Braves were able to take down the Reds 7-6 to even the series at one game a piece.

The bats were hot, and the pitching staff was just good enough to hold off the Reds.

What can we take away from this 7-6 win over the Reds?

Travis d'Arnaud went crazy

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Travis d'Arnaud had a big game for the Braves, going 4-5 at the dish with a homer. The Braves catcher has a smooth swing and makes it look effortless at the dish. It really seems like d'Arnaud is seeing a beach ball instead of a baseball when he is hitting. d'Arnaud continuing to play well would be a massive boost for this ball club, especially with Sean Murphy still on the shelf.

The Braves had 14 hits

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Braves had fourteen hits in this ball game, and seven of nine starters collected a hit. Orlando Arcia and Michael Harris were the only two without knocks in this 7-6 win over the Reds. If the bats are hot like this, no team in baseball will beat the Braves. Hopefully, the barrage of hits continues on Sunday, and Atlanta can win the series.

AJ Minter continues to dominate

AJ Minter - Oct 16 - 1

AJ Minter had another strong inning for the Braves striking out two in a scoreless eighth. The fastball had plenty of velocity, and the off-speed looked great. Minter has been dominant of late, getting his full-season ERA down to 5.05. The Braves need Minter in top form when we get closer to playoff time.

Raisel Iglesias looked shaky but got it done

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Raisel Iglesias came in the ball game with his team-leading 7-4 and gave up two solo shots to make it a one-run ball game. He eventually got the job done, but it sure was scary. When he gets his pitches in the correct spots, Iglesias is a great pitcher, but when he hangs his off-speed opposing hitters do damage. Iglesias has given up a run in four of his last six outings, which is not what you love to hear about your closer. Iglesias needs to figure it out and fast.

What's Next?

The Braves and Reds will face off for the series on Sunday at 12:40. Charlie Morton will get the ball for the Braves. This is going to be a fun ball game in the Queen City.
