WATCH: Michael Soroka records first strikeout in nearly three years

How can you not be romantic about baseball?

Monday's game was all about Michael Soroka. 

He took the mound for the bottom of the 1st up 1-0 thanks to a Sean Murphy RBI single and dealt a very solid inning.

It included his first strikeout in almost three years since making his return.

You could tell he was fighting back tears in the beauty of the moment.

Starting for the Braves is Michael Soroka. It's his first major league appearance since 2020, as he's spent the last three season recovering from two Achilles tears. In AAA Gwinnett this season, he's 1-2 with a 4.33 ERA in eight starts, with thirty-five strikeouts to eleven walks in 35.1 innings.

Opposing Atlanta is RHP Paul Blackburn. The righthander is also make his season debut, opening the season on the injured list with a right middle finger issue he's been dealing with since last August. He went 0-0 with a 7.50 ERA in his six rehab starts, divided between Class-A Stockton and AAA Las Vegas. He's faced the Braves once in his career, in July of 2017, allowing only three hits and one unearned run in six innings.
