Braves Briefing: Pete Alonso wants you to "throw it again"
Michael Jordan was one of the greatest athletes in the world, and he let you know. Often.
"His Airness" was known for talking trash, and he would do anything to get under your skin and throw you off your game.
But he ALSO had a very specific tell about your confidence level, based on when you chose to talk trash.
There's a clip from the final episode of "The Last Dance" docuseries where he details his thought process behind trash talking. (WARNING: Language)
Pete Alonso's trash talking to Bryce Elder would have been described as "easy" by Jordan.
After the Braves hurler gave up two two-run homeruns in the top of the third staking New York to a 4-1 lead, Alonso decided to chirp Elder by urging him to "Throw it again. Throw it again, PLEASE".
Atlanta would go on to score the final five runs of the game, holding the Mets to one more hit, and win 6-4.
Moral of the story, courtesy of our own Will Moon in last night's takeaways:
The real takeaway is this - keep your mouth shut until you win something.

We Wrote It
Braves Today wordsmith Will Moon has fun with last night's takeaways, but he also made a very good observation about the bullpen's performance late in this one.
It was a very satisfying inning in multiple ways, and it gave the Braves' bullpen a narrow lead to protect. Jesse Chavez overcame a Riley error to face the minimum in the seventh, and AJ Minter had another encouraging outing in the eighth, retiring McNeil with the tying run at second and two out.
Raisel Iglesias came on in the ninth and very satisfyingly struck out Alonso to lead off the inning, with Daniel Vogelbach and Starling Marte grounding out to end the game. And the pace of the shade tweeting only increased from there.
