Braves Briefing: Vaughn Grissom pens goodbye note to Atlanta

The infielder, traded to Boston on Saturday, says his goodbyes in a touching note on social media

The Atlanta Braves made a significant trade on Saturday, sending infielder Vaughn Grissom to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for starter Chris Sale and cash considerations.

President of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos admitted later in the day that it was a "painful" trade to make, based on his (and the organization's) admiration of Grissom as both a baseball player and a good human being .

"You're not going to find a better human being. The makeup is a good as they get. High energy player (who) makes people around him better."

Last night, Grissom took to social media to both thank the Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox, expressing his admiration for what Atlanta did for him and his thankfulness in the Red Sox for believing in his ability to be a starter and insisting on getting him in the deal.
