Lineup, how to watch the Braves series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays
Safe to say, the Atlanta Braves will be happy to leave Toronto. They've dropped the first two games of the series, scoring only two runs on nine hits and leaving fourteen runners on base, including batting 0-12 with runners in scoring position.
Lineup
Here's how the Braves will line up for the series finale:
The Braves are giving Sean Murphy the day off, with Travis d'Arnaud catching and batting fifth. We also finally see a change in the top three, with Ozzie Albies moved up to the three hole and Austin Riley, who is batting only .240/.326/.393 so far in 2023, moved down to cleanup. Marcell Ozuna is in as the designated hitter, as May is his month, and Kevin Pillar takes over for Eddie Rosario in left field, batting 7th.
Pitching Matchup
It's a bullpen game for Atlanta, and taking the ball as the opener is Collin McHugh. The veteran reliever is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA in his nine appearances on the season, covering 13.2 innings. He's been a full-time reliever since 2018, but is accustomed to the opener role - he did it for both Houston (eight) and Tampa (seven) at times before coming to Atlanta for the 2022 season. He's also accustomed to Toronto - he's faced them 13 times in his career, with a 2-2 record and a 2.70 ERA in those 43.1 innings. As a reliever, he's had a lot more success against them, with a 1-0 record and 0.71 ERA in eight appearances since making the bullpen move in 2018. Not many current Toronto hitters have a good track record against him, with only Bo Bichette (2-5) and Whit Merrifield (2-3, RBI) having logged multiple hits against him.
Facing off against Atlanta is Yusei Kikuchi. He's 5-0 on the season with a 3.35 ERA in his 7 starts on the season, striking out 33 in his 37.2 innings of work and getting plenty of run support - Toronto's scored 51 runs in his seven games. He's never faced Atlanta, and only three current Braves have any experience against him. Matt Olson is 5-20 with two homeruns (both solo shots), Sean Murphy is 1-10 with a RBI, and Eddie Rosario is 0-6.
