The MLB playoffs begin next week, and the Dodgers earned a bye, meaning they will be waiting for their opponent to advance from the wild-card round. It gives LA a chance to rest for a few days once the regular season ends, and they can then start preparing their rotations and lineups.

One of the biggest pieces to this team is starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw, and he thankfully will enter into October healthy. He battled injuries in the second half of the season, and his status for the playoffs was in question at one point. But the veteran is ready to help this team and do whatever he can to win games.

He credits Dodgers manager Dave Roberts for the way he used him down the stretch, as he worked through the injuries. Kershaw said that he feels good entering the postseason, and is excited to get started.

“Honestly when I came back I didn’t really know what to expect,” Kershaw said. “Give Doc a lot of credit. He’s handled it really well, giving me some extra days to kind of get my feet under me. Now I feel pretty good. I feel I’m kind of turning a corner health-wise and feel good.”

Throughout the year, Kershaw was the best pitcher on the Dodgers. He was consistent all season, and it helped LA manage different issues within their rotation.

He finished the regular season with a record of 13-5 and posted an ERA of 2.46. It’s the 13th time in the last 15 years that his ERA is under 3.00 through a season. This speaks to the overall dominance that Kershaw has shown in his career, and how much he has meant to this Dodgers organization.

“Whenever it is, I’m just excited to get to do it. It’ll be fun,” said Kershaw, a 35-year-old three-time Cy Young Award winner. “With the way this year kind of went, I didn’t really expect to be in this spot for a lot of reasons. But it’s here and if that happens, I’ll be ready.”

It remains to be seen if this is his final season, and he won’t make that decision until well into the offseason. But for now, the veteran is enjoying his time with this team and is hoping to win another World Series for the city of Los Angeles.
