Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Still Figuring Out What Postseason Pitch Staff Will Look Like
The success that the Dodgers have seen this season has been incredible to see. They were supposed to take a step back this year in terms of the standings, but they never got the memo.
LA has continued their dominant ways throughout the season, but it wasn’t without some early-season adversity. This version of the Dodgers has seen some troubling pitching issues bubble up as the year has gone along. And now with the playoffs coming in a few weeks, it’s a cause for concern for the team.
However, manager Dave Roberts doesn’t seem too concerned. He believes in his guys but has made it clear that the pitching rotation in the postseason will be anything but conventional to win games.
“I think that once we put our (October) roster together, we’ll do a good job of preventing runs,” Roberts said. “What roles guys are going to play, I don’t know yet. It’s not going to be conventional. It doesn’t need to be.”

The Dodgers have seen the usual strength of their roster become one of the biggest issues. They have relied upon rookies and young pitchers to get them through the long season, and this will continue into the playoffs.
Their starting rotation will likely only have two veterans in it, Clayton Kershaw and Lance Lynn. Other than that, they will look to young guys like Bobby Miller, Ryan Pepiot and others to help get the job done.
Julio Urias isn’t with the team. Walker Buehler isn’t walking through the door this season. So, the Dodgers will need to be creative in how they go about things in the postseason.
It will be an interesting way to go about the postseason, but it’s the reality that the Dodgers find themselves in. They also will likely go with some openers in different games as well.
Luckily for LA, they have the luxury to try and figure things out now as the year winds down. They have built up a good lead in the NL West, so they can just fine-tune things down the stretch of the season.
The team may be able to clinch the division as early as this weekend, but they also don’t want to get ahead of themselves. Complacency hasn’t set in this season, and the hope is that it never does.
This team is on a mission to prove people wrong who doubted them at the start. The best way to do that is to go win the whole damn thing, and if they play up to their potential, they very well can.
