Dodgers Notes: Free Agent Hot Stove Rumors, Ohtani, Chapman, Cease and More

The Dodgers are expected to be quite active on the offseason hot stove.
In this story:

With a little over one week until the free agency period opens in baseball, the Dodgers continue to be the top name linked to superstar Shohei Ohtani. Every team is expected to "be in" on Shohei, but few have the resources and World Series expectations year over year like the Los Angeles Dodgers.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale said recently that Ohtani is viewed as LA's number 1 target this winter as the betting odds continue to favor the Dodgers signing the star.

Even with the odds in their favor, there will be plenty of competition for LA as teams across MLB will throw hundreds of millions his way.

Over on DodgersNation.com's YouTube channel, SportsNet LA analyst Jerry Hairston Jr talked about the potential addition of Shohei and what it would mean for the lineup. That conversation can be found here or watched below.

After the World Series, which is tied 1-1 as the Diamondbacks and Rangers head to Phoenix, there will be a five-day period before free agents can be signed by new teams.

Beyond Ohtani, former AL MVP candidate Matt Chapman has been linked in rumors to the Dodgers. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand believes the third baseman fits in well with what the Dodgers need moving forward. Signing Chapman would certainly allow Max Muncy to change positions, something Caleb Nguyen argued for at DodgersNation.com

Elsewhere on the hot stove, Dodgers beat writer J.P. Hoornstra believes LA could be quite active on the trade market and possibly explore deals to acquire a guy like Corbin Burnes or even reopen talks with the White Sox for Dylan Cease.
