At least it didn't take the Cleveland Guardians until the ninth inning to get the offense rolling. However, they couldn't hold onto an early lead as the New York Yankees took their turn in putting together a comeback win as they took the second game of the series, 4-2.

Despite the loss, the story of the night is going to be the terrific start the Tanner Bibee put together. He had another five-plus inning outing giving up just two runs and striking out five Yankee batters.

This is what Terry Francona had to say after the game:

However, the bullpen couldn't hold it down for the rookie as James Karinchak came into the game and gave away the lead on a solo home run by Willi Calhoun. Eli Morgan then came into the game and gave another run in the eighth inning giving New York a two-run lead.

The Guardians only scored two runs, but they do deserve some credit for how the at-bats they put together against Gerrit Cole early in the game. Cole is an early Cy Young candidate and has returned to being one of the best pitchers in all of baseball.

But Cleveland really made him work tonight, especially in the first innings. They worked deep counts, got his pitch count up, and took a two-run lead in the third inning. But that's where the scoring stopped and Cole flipped the switch.

The Yankee ace finished the night with eight strikeouts with Guardians batters watching half of those strike three pitches go by. It was a good start for the offense, but they just couldn't keep the pedal on the gas and allowed the Yankees to score four unanswered runs.

The Guardians still have a shot to win the series on Wednesday with their ace Shane Bieber on the mound. Hopefully, the bats can give him some run support and head home with a series victory.
