Guardians Reveal Pitching Plan For Series Against Red Sox
A big talking point surrounding the Cleveland Guardians nowadays is their rotation and who will be in it moving forward. It's pretty well known that they are dealing with a significant number of injuries but have a number of your prospects in the minors ready to make their mark at the Big League level.
The team announced their pitching plan for their upcoming series with the Boston Red Sox among all of the curiosity and questions.
These are the starters the Guardians will use this weekend:
- Friday - Shane Bieber
- Saturday - Zach Plesac
- Sunday - Logan Allen
Cleveland choosing to roll with Bieber and Plesac isn't too surprising. Bieber is the team's ace and even though Plesac has seen some up and down moments, he's still a Big League starter the team needs right now.
One of the big surprises is seeing that Allen will get the nod on Sunday. He was called up last weekend to pitch in the series finale against the Miami Marlins. Allen looked incredible in his debut striking out eight batters and giving up one earned run in six innings.
Even after this start, there were some questions as to whether he would be sent back down to Triple-A. That clearly isn't going to be the case and Allen will be sticking with the team for the forseasble futrutre.
The Guardians have dropped their last three series and will avoid making it four this weekend. The Red Sox are at the basement of the AL East, but don't let that fool you. They're 13-13, have a positive run differential and are 5-5 in their last 10 games.
Cleveland is going to need all the pitching help they can get!
