The Cleveland Guardians made a couple of moves prior to the series finale with the Kansas City Royals. These moves will directly affect the pitching staff and could give us a glimpse at what Cleveland's plans are moving forward.

Logan Allen Optioned To Triple-A

The Guardians decided to option Logan Allen after his start against the Royals on Wednesday night. Allen has largely had a strong rookie season posting an ERA of 3.47 over 12 starts.

However, he has recently struggled to get deep into games which has caused the bullpen to be overworked.

It's hard to see this being a long-term move, but it could be a good opportunity for him to make a few starts in the minors with Cal Quantrill coming back on Friday.

Michell Kelley Recalled From Columbus

Cleveland added a bullpen arm as the corresponding move with sending Allen down.

Micheal Kelley has been recalled from Columbus and will join the Big League team. Kelly's contract was selected by the Guardians on June 3, but he never appeared in a game. He was sent back down the next day.

Kelly has an ERA of 2.25 and WHIP of 1.00 in the Minors this season and could give the Guardians some valuable bullpen innings if called on to do so.
