Logan Allen doesn't have to worry about being sent back down to Columbus after his start against the Boston Red Sox.

The lefty had another spectacular start against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday afternoon. Allen looked more like a seasoned veteran than a rookie making just his second MLB start.

He pitched 5.0 innings allowing two earned runs on four hits. Allen only walked two batters and tied his debut with eight strikeouts and only walked two.

Allen has now struck out eight batters in his first two Major League starts. The last time Cleveland pitcher struck out 16 batters or more in their first two starts was Herb Score back in 1955.

That's some good company to be in!

The most impressive part of Allen's start was his command of the zone. He threw 104 pitches with 67 of them going for strikes in wet and cold conditions. The weather can't be used as an excuse for a poor start, but it sure can make things more difficult for a pitcher. However, Allen was unphased by these conditions.

The only two runs that he allowed came in his final inning of work. With runners on second and third, Boston's Alex Verdugo hit a bloop into left field on a pitch that was low and out of the zone.

Allen's best inning was in the fourth when he struck out the side. He was absolutely dealing!

There's no reason for Allen to be sent back down at this point. The Guardians need starting pitching and he's thriving in that role. Sure, he may hit a rough patch at some point, but the place for him and the team is with the Big League club.
