Xzavion Curry may not be in the starting rotation or closing out games, but that doesn't he has made a massive contribution to the Cleveland Guardians. He demonstrated this on Saturday afternoon against the Boston Red Sox.

Curry came into the game in the third inning after Zach Plesac allowed five runs on just eight hits. Cleveland was down four runs and they needed someone to stop the bleeding so their offense could get a chance to get them back into the game.

That's exactly what Curry did. The righty pitched 2.2 innings of relief and only allowed four hits and a run. This gave the Guardians a chance to claw their way back into the game, tie it, and send it to extra innings.

Unfortunately, the Guardians did not come away with a victory, but that shouldn't take away from what Curry did in his role. This isn't the first time he has come into the game and put it on ice.

Back on April 11, Hunter Gaddis struggled against the New York Yankees and gave up eight runs before the fourth inning. Curry came into the game and four innings to save Cleveland's bullpen.

Curry did the same thing when Cal Qunatrill found himself in some trouble against the Colorado Rockies last Tuesday and was pulled earlier than Terry Francona would have liked. Curry came into the game and pitched 3.1 clean innings of work in yet another spectacular performance out of the bullpen.

In his six appearances this season, Curry holds a 2.50 ERA with a 0.94 WHIP over 18.0 innings.

The job Curry has done may not be one that every pitcher wants to have, but someone has to do it. His efficiency out of the bullpen has been something that has been huge for Cleveland.

If the Guardians continue to struggle to put together a rotation, then Curry is more than deserving of being given a shot in that role.
