It feels like yesterday Cleveland acquired Myles Straw from the Houston Astros during the 2021 trade deadline.

At that time, the then Indians sought a long-term answer in center field. Straw's defense and contact rate made him an easy trade candidate for a team desperate for outfield depth.

Cleveland liked what they saw and signed him to a contract extension through the 2028 season.

While Straw hasn't quite lived up to the player that they traded for on offense, his defense remains elite. He won his first Gold Glove in 2022 and could very well win another in 2023.

Straw can be a streaky hitter at times, but he's incredibly valuable to the lineup when he's getting on base and hitting. Batting ninth allows him to turn over the lineup and gives Steven Kwan and Jose Ramirez a chance to collect an RBI.

Myles reminded his former team of the impact he can have on a game in the Cleveland Guardians' series opener with Astros.

Just like most games, Straw hit ninth on Friday night. He finished the game with three hits, including a double, and one run scored in the chaotic extra-innings finish.

This was Straw's second three-hit game of the season and the 20th of his career. He's now hitting .286 with three doubles and an RBI in the seven games against his former team.

Cleveland's offense is finally finding their groove after a slow start and Straw is part of this. He's batting .280 over the last 15 days and has also scored six runs.

Hopefully, Straw can keep up this production going for the next few days to help Cleveland take another series win.
