Progressive Field had a number of ceremonies before the Cleveland Guardians were able to get their Home Opener rolling on Friday. One of these is the famous "first pitch" which is done by a celebrity or important figure.

This season, Kansas City Chief's Super Bowl-winning tight end Travis Kelce received the honors of throwing out the first pitch at Progressive Field in 2023. Kelce is a Cleveland Heights native and went to college at the University of Cincinnati before being drafted into the NFL.Β

He's a Clevelander through and through and even worse a shirt that simply said, "I'm from Cleveland."

With Kelce's athletic history, one would think that he could deliver a nice toss with maybe even a little heat behind it. But that's not at all what happened. He threw it right into the ground which forced Shane Biber, who was supposed to catch the ball, to run in the opposite direction.

Kelce immediately went and hugged Bieber, knowing the pitch wasn't ideal. However, Kelce wouldn't hear the end of it there.Β

These are some of the best reactions to the comical pitch on Twitter:

Kelce himself even got in on the jokes!
