WATCH: Peyton Battenfield's First Major League Strikeout Comes Against Aaron Judge
The Cleveland Guardians had a new starter on the mound amid the injuries they've already sustained to the rotation. Triston McKenzie and Aaron Civale remain out which is what forced Terry Francona and company to turn to Peyton Battenfield.
Battenfield was with the club in 2022 when they went up to Toronto, but he never got into the game. He finally made his first MLB start in the series finale against the New York Yankees.
The right-hander gave up a leadoff double to Anthony Volpe to start the game, but battled back and got out of the inning without letting up a run. The first out of the inning was also Battenfield's first Big League strikeout.
This came against the one and only Aaron Judge. Watch the strikeout here:
It's one thing to record your first strikeout in the Big Leagues. It's another thing to strike out the reigning AL MVP on the home run king from a year ago.
No matter what happens in the rest of Battenfield's career, he'll always have this moment and baseball to hold on to!
