Carlos Carrasco, Brooks Raley Nearing Return to Mets
WASHINGTON - They're both getting close.
Carlos Carrasco and Brooks Raley are nearing a return to the Mets.
Raley, who is closer than Carrasco, has rejoined the team in Washington D.C. and is expected to be activated from the injured list on Saturday or Sunday.
Raley went on a rehab assignment during the week with Double-A Binghamton.
Raley has been on the IL since April 28 with left elbow inflammation. Upon his return, he will give manager Buck Showalter a lefty option out of the bullpen.
As for Carrasco, he will make a second rehab start for Double-A Binghamton on Sunday. If all goes well, he will rejoin the Mets' rotation next week.
Carrasco was solid in his first rehab outing for Binghamton, throwing three innings on 33 pitches. He allowed one run, three hits, a walk and struck out one batter.
The Mets' rotation could use Carrasco back in the mix, as they have had to turn to Joey Lucchesi in his absence.
Carrasco has been on the IL since April 16 with elbow inflammation, which required an injection.
He is 0-2 with a 8.56 ERA in three starts this season.
