It's important to have goals, even when you're already one of the best baseball players in the world.

Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson made that abundantly clear in 2023. The 22-year-old rookie took the league by storm, swatting 28 home runs with an .814 OPS, while playing terrific defense. Not surprisingly, he won AL Rookie of the Year unanimously.

Henderson also earned a Silver Slugger award and finished eighth in the AL MVP voting. The Orioles won 101 games and the AL East, but were swept by the Texas Rangers in the ALDS and failed to win a postseason game.

Suffice it to say, both Henderson and his teammates have room for improvement in 2024. They have their sights set on bigger and better things next year, and Baltimore fans will love the goals that Henderson has for himself and the team in 2024.

In an interview with the Flippin' Bats Podcast on Thursday, Henderson said his team goal for 2024 is to win the World Series after getting a taste of the playoffs in 2023. Considering that the Orioles haven't won it all since 1983, that's exactly what their fans want to hear.

On a personal level, Henderson said he wants to win the AL MVP award next season. Given that he already finished eighth as a rookie this year, that's certainly possible, especially if he works hard in the offseason and takes a step forward in his second full season.

These are great goals for Henderson to have, plus they're realistic. If he and his teammates achieve them in 2024, Baltimore fans will be ecstatic.
