The Padres may not have had the performance on the field they wanted coming into this season, however, the franchise can hang its hat on at least one successful aspect for their 2023 season off the field.

Friars fans have shown up to the ballpark and have filled the seats at Petco Park, unlike any season before it with plenty of time to spare to shatter any previous records in that metric.

The Padres have 20 home games remaining, and between season tickets and advance sales are already assured of breaking their all-time attendance record of 3,016,752 set in 2004. It is possible they might break the record before the final homestand.

Sitting below where they want to be in the standings, some solace can be taken that Padres fans have sat to cheer their team on from the stands on a nightly basis for their home games.

Seeing stars like Juan Soto, Manny Machado, Blake Snell, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Yu Darvish continue making individual history has been a draw like no other in the league.

Much of that credit goes to GM AJ Preller for assembling such a star-studded squad to keep the team competitive no matter the circumstances.

Such a move hasn't exactly paid off this year for this iteration of the Padres as the team has a losing record up to this point deep into the regular season.

With about a quarter of the regular 162 game gauntlet left to go, San Diego is staring at a possible omission from the postseason similar to 2021.

If the team wants any shot at chance at defending their place for the NL pennant, things must change quickly.

Despite this, San Diego's fans will be there no matter what to support their Friars into battle as they have unlike any year before.
